Ashgabad
Ashgabad is called the White City because by presidential decree all new buildings must be white and all public buildings must be faced with white marble tiles all cut to a specific size. The buildings are massive in scale and with few people on the streets and a city so clean it is almost sterile, one has the impression that it is all a facade like a movie set that will shortly be dismantled.
