Dried fruit

Dried fruit

Central Asian Bazaar

Walnuts and peanuts are grown locally as are apricots and grapes, which are very often dried to eat during the long winter season. They do not grow almonds, but the locals take apricot stones and dry them - which taste very like almonds. Sometimes the 'stones' are already shelled and dusted as they are here - other times they are presented as they come. The secret to avoid breaking your teeth on the hard exterior is to use one of the shells to open the others, or so they say.
