Mausoleum of Sidi Boulbaba2

Mausoleum of Sidi Boulbaba2

Gabes

The tomb of the saint is to the right of the picture and this is the women's entrance to the Mausoleum. As is always the case in Mosques and mausoleums, men and women pray separately. The entrance for men is on the other side of the screen at the back. It is still visibly a place of prayer and pilgrimage for local people. Sidi Boulbaba is said to have been a companion and barber of the Prophet. A barber in those times was held in high esteem since every shave meant you bared your neck to hands wielding a cut-throat razor........
