Palace Arch

Anjar is unique as a historic site in Lebanon because it dates to just one period - the early 8th century under the Ummayad dynasty. Most sites in the country are a mix of cultures built one on top of the other, but not here. The architecture is distinguished by its slender columns and delicate arches - here the courtyard of the palace.
