Anjar column capital

Anjar column capital

Anjar

Anjar has several styles of capitals - like early mosques which also used re-cycled materials, the builders did not seek symmetry and often columns of different sizes and capital styles would be placed next to each other - as is the case in Anjar. These were early days of Islam and architecture was still a fusion of styles and borrowings from other cultures.
