Ismael Samani Mausoleum

A jewel of Samanid architecture with an exterior facade of basketweave interlocking brick, this 10th century masterpiece is named after the founder of the dynasty who is buried here. The tomb has once again bceome a place of pilgrimage for locals and it is not unusual to see men reciting prayers for locals.
