Faizullah Khojaev's house

Faizullah Khojaev's house

Son of a wealthy 19th century Bukharan merchant, he was a founding member of the 'Young Bukharans' and first president of the Soviet Socialist Republic of Uzbekistan. Despite his background of immense wealth and his impeccable Socialist credentials, Stalin executed him in 1938 and his family was exiled to Siberia. Opinion in the country is still sharply divided about his life and accomplishments.
