Bibi Khanum - a ribbed dome

The latest in a series of photographs I have taken of Bibi Khanum. Here bits of grass are sprouting between the tiling of the dome. In other parts, great cracks are visible. Tamerlane had no patience when told by architects that his building would not work - and anyone who had the foolhardiness to contradict him usually wound up thrown from a great height. But they were right - the building spectacularly collapsed with bits of roof falling on worshippers from the start.
