Hakkari warrior

Hakkari warrior

Van Museum

Statues recovered from Hakkari in 1998. The warriors clutch waterskins to their chests and are depicted with daggers, axes and spears. Carved sometime between the 15th and 11th centuries BC the style is rare in Anatolia but is more commonly found in Central Asian societies from later periods specifically in western China where Turkic peoples lived (and still do).
