Pavilion Chahar Bagh madrasa

Each corner of this beautiful 18th century quadrilateral madrasa houses a quiet area where the students could study - the lower floor has blue outlined muqarnas vaulting with a turquoise and yellow tiled faience facade. Shah Sultan Hossein during whose reign the madrasa was built, used to stay here and study with the clerics. He was a pious man but not a strong ruler and the Afghans invaded and conquered Iran during his reign. He was banished to the madrasa where he later died at their hands.
