Al-Ukhdud

Al-Ukhdud

Najran

Al-Ukhdud was a Christian center whose inhabitants were massacred by the Himyar King from Yemen around 525AD. The site which lies near the present city of Najran, has yet to be fully excavated. The region was an important stop on the trade route from the South Arabian kingdoms north to the Mediterranean. There are carvings of intertwined snakes and this horse as well as Himyaritic script.
